My Story
In March 2025, my dad was diagnosed with Lewy-body dementia. It’s a cruel disease that takes pieces of someone you love — and I’m running to fight back.
This isn’t my family’s first battle with dementia. My husband’s gran faced Alzheimer’s with the kind of stubbornness only grandmothers can pull off, and we lost her in July 2024.
On my dad’s side, the story runs even deeper — several of his brothers have also lived with dementia, some of whom we’ve already lost. His twin brother is currently in a care home, facing the same fight. Between them all — and especially my dad — I know this fight is worth every blister.
I first laced up my trainers in Summer 2024, promptly quit for 6 months and restarted in April 2025 with a bigger reason to keep going.
So when I’m huffing, puffing, and wondering why I didn’t pick a less sweaty fundraiser, remember: I’m running for them — and for everyone living with dementia.
Every donation funds vital research and gets us closer to a cure. Please support if you can — together, we’ll turn miles into hope.
