I write this whilst sitting in Velindre cancer centre. They say your life can change in a blink of an eye, well in January 2024 my family’s life changed just like that.

After returning from a beautiful holiday in Mexico, my wife Christine was diagnosed with bowel cancer, which had also spread to her liver. After an operation to remove the tumour from her bowel , Christine has been on regular treatments at Velindre Cancer Centre. The care she’s receiving has been second to none. I can only describe the people that have been caring for her as unbelievable and I watch in awe of them as I see how hard they work.

 We as a family have been overwhelmed by the love and support we have received from family and friends, we appreciate every single one of you!

Christine has taken this in her stride with a smile on her face as she does with everything. She’s the strongest person I know. 

This has been the most helpless I’ve ever felt in my life, so I thought I would try and do something positive for Velindre. 

On the 5th October myself and my son Jonathan will be running the Cardiff half marathon in support of Velindre and all the other people fighting cancer right now. 

Velindre rely heavily on donations so please give what ever you can afford large or small as it will make a massive difference to this already amazing place.
